Section Descriptions
USCF Rated Sections
K–3 Section
For scholastic players Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Perfect for young players with a USCF Membership.4–6 Section
For beginner and intermediate players in 4th–6th grade. Perfect for young players with a USCF Membership.Open Section
For older scholastic and adult players with a USCF Membership. Experienced K–6 players with a USCF rating may join for a higher level of play. No prior experience required for older participants.
Unrated Sections
K–3 Section
For beginners in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Perfect for young players new to tournaments. No prior experience needed.4–8 Section
For beginner and intermediate players in 4th–8th grade. No experience required.Adult Section
For Adult beginner and intermediate players 18 years of age and older. No experience required.
USCF Memberships
To join please go to https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess and register for a youth membership. Benefits of membership include a digital subscription to Chess Life, Chess Life Kids, an opportunity to earn an official US Chess Federation rating, and a chance to participate in other local and national competitions.
Sections may be combined to ensure maximum play.
Prizes awarded to the top player in each section.
Registration
Early Bird: $30 – available until 11:59 PM on June 13th
Regular: $40 – from June 13th until 7:30 AM on June 20th
Onsite Registration: After 7:30 AM (includes a first-round bye to allow for timely start)

PowerChess Monthly Tournament Rules:
1️⃣ USCF Official Rules (Open and Scholastic Sections)
The tournament will follow the United States Chess Federation (USCF) Official Rules.
Each player is responsible for knowing and following the rules outlined in the official rulebook.
2️⃣ ✍️Notation Requirement (Open Section)
Players must notate their games in the Open section.
Exceptions may be requested under Rule 15.A.1 from a Tournament Director. Players granted exceptions will have their time control reduced by 5%.
3️⃣ ✍️No Notation Required for K-3 & K-6 Sections
Players in the K-3 and K-6 sections are NOT required to notate their games.
4️⃣ Tiebreak System (Rule 34.E Variation)
