Welcome to PowerChess – Summer Chess Camps, where young chess enthusiasts can immerse themselves in a world of learning, playing, and FUN! In partnership with schools, community centers, and community leaders, PowerChess is excited to offer an exceptional summer experience packed with interactive lessons and exciting tournaments, all centered around CHESS! 

Our camp schedules feature two unique programs tailored to suit different skill levels. The Tournament Chess Program is designed for students familiar with basic chess concepts like piece movement, check, checkmate, and stalemate who are eager to delve into advanced strategies and patterns. While our PowerUp Chess Camp is perfect for beginners, providing a fun and supportive environment to learn basic piece movement, checkmating concepts, and other foundational chess skills.

Camp size is limited to 14-18 participants.

PowerUp Summer Chess Camp

The PowerUp Summer Chess Camp is designed to help students learn the FUNdamentals of chess, including basic piece movement, checkmating patterns, and other foundational principles of the game in a dynamic and engaging environment. This program is a perfect fit for any student who wants to PowerUp their mind over summer break while having FUN and learning the basics of chess! Students can expect to spend the first part of camp becoming proficient in piece movement and other foundational game principles. Once mastered, students will learn basic checkmating patterns, chess opening ideas, and play tournament-style chess games. Parents, WATCH OUT; by the end of the camp, your student may have gained the necessary skills to BEAT YOU! 🙂

Camp Activities will include: 

♟ Chess instruction: Piece movement, checkmate, stalemate, foundational principles, and much more from trained PowerChess Coaches 

♟ Practice playing positions against other students

♟ Puzzle-solving contests

♟ Full-Length Chess Games

♟ Fun Chess related activities

Tournament Chess Summer Camp

In the PowerChess Tournament Chess Summer Camps, students will advance their chess knowledge and experience through presentations and hands-on application of new opening positions and tactical ideas, tournament-length gameplay, game analysis, and, yes, students will have the opportunity to play against each other in a BLITZ tournament! PowerChess Tournament Chess Summer Camps are geared towards students who have, at a minimum, an understanding of chess piece movement, basic mating patterns, and a LOVE for everything chess. Students will continue to grow in their mastery of chess and build upon these ideas and skills in a positive, supportive learning environment.

 Camp Activities will include:
